Both Panorama softball and baseball teams were up against some steep competition last night in a pair of double header match ups against 2016 conference champs Van Meter.

On the baseball diamond head coach Brian Bahrenfuss would remain just two wins shy of 180 career victories as his Panthers were unable to take both of the varsity double header match ups. Despite being in front of the hometown crowd, Panorama would be on the unfortunate end of a pair of lopsided defeats starting with game one ending in a 14-0 Van Meter shutout. Panorama actually kept the game close until a 9 run 4th inning for Van Meter ended the game early with the 10 run rule.

That same rule was in effect and then some in game two where Panorama witnessed 29 Van Meter runs crossing the plate in just three innings en rout to a 33-1 abbreviated game defeat. The Panthers will still be searching for their first win of the season when they head to Guthrie Center on Monday.

As for the Panorama softball team, they too had a rough set of outings although found more productive offense in the process. Panorama put up 5 runs in both contests but slightly fell in game one 8-5 while also falling in game number two 12-5. The Lady Panthers will now search for their first win on the season with their weekend tournament in Atlantic.
