Perry senior Emma Olejniczak had her entire arsenal of pitches working Thursday night as 7th ranked Perry blanked number 11 Boone 3-0 in a battle of two state qualifying teams from a year ago.   Olejniczak was perfect for the first six innings and started the game with 8 straight strikeouts.  The senior and future Northern Iowa Panther finished with 14 strikeouts.  Ironically, her future roommate next year at UNI Dianna Slight broke up the perfect game by starting the 7th inning with a bunt single on a close play.  Olejniczak walked Laura Anderson one batter later but was able to get out of the inning by enticing back to back infield pop ups.

Perry outhit Boone 8-1 with Sidney Vancil leading the way.  For the second straight night, Vancil recorded 3 hits including a RBI double in the 7th.  Johanna Diw added a pair of hits and a run scored.  Rachel Kinney provided an RBI hit in the 4th.

The win marked the 100th career win for Perry Head Coach Tina Kenney.  The former Jayette and Central alum has turned around a program that won a combined 5 games prior to her arrival in 2010.  Kenney led the Jayettes to the program’s first state tournament in nearly two decades last year.

Perry improves to 5-2 on the season and 3-1 in Raccoon River Conference play.  Perry will return to the practice field today in preparation for the Paul and Mary Ann Graves Classic this Saturday at the PAC.  The Jayettes will host a ranked I-35 team in a 9:30 game.
