The Greene County softball team doesn’t have long to wait for another opportunity to get win number one on the season as Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams play in today’s Bondurant-Farrar tournament in Bondurant. The team is 0-7 overall and 0-6 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference after losing in Jefferson on Friday night to South Hamilton by a 10-4 final. The Hawks have lost just one game to this point of the season.

SH had 12 hits and two errors while the Rams had eight hits and five errors. Senior Hannah Promes took the pitching loss, going 4-2/3 innings with 10 hits, eight runs (three earned), one walk and three strikeouts. Sophomore Jenna Beyers pitched the last 2-1/3 innings and allowed two hits, two runs (one earned), two walks, and she fanned two batters.

Offensively for the Rams, Promes drove in all four runs. She had a double and single. Sophomore Megan Carey had three singles from the leadoff spot, and junior Samantha Hardaway, sophomore Melanie Doran, and freshman Tieryn Tucker, each had a base hit.
