The ADM Tiger baseball team officially capped off their week on Saturday with a pair of non conference shootout wins in Coon Rapids. ADM defeated the home town Crusaders by a 12-8 margin while taking extra innings to conduct a 10-9 walk off game winner in 11 innings over Pleasantville.
Against Coon Rapids-Bayard ADM attacked early and often pushing across 6 runs in the very first inning which started from a fielders choice RBI and moved on to a pair of 2 run singles by Nick Dufoe and Kade Overton. The hometown Crusaders shrunk the Tiger lead down 6-4 after two innings, ADM answered with a one run third and a four run 4th where 3 walks and an error brought home the eventual back breaker for the win. The Tigers pushed across one run in the fifth and despite two runs in both the 4th and 6th innings from the Crusaders, it was not enough to take the game.
ADM was actually out hit in the contest 7 hits to 10 hits plus a home run but the equalizer was four Coon Rapids errors compared to ADM’s two. Carson Benn would pick up the win on the mound but would team up with Cody Osgood to combine for 10 hits allowed, 8 earned runs, 4 strike outs, and just four walks. Five batters picked up an RBI on the contest with Overton, Dufoe, and Crannell each picking up two.
In the contest against Pleasantville both home and away fans were treated to bonus baseball as it took 11 innings to decide a winner. Once again, ADM struck early for 8 runs in just three innings but Pleasantville would match that across seven innings, placing the game with an 8-8 tie at the end of regulation. It was a back and fourth scoreless battle through two more innings where ADM was placed in a critical situation in the bottom of the 10th down one run. Patience would plate ADM a run via a walk which set up Kinnick Sutton to play the role of hero in the next half inning connecting on the game winning RBI single in the bottom of the 11th. Nick Dufoe would start the game for ADM on the mound giving up 11 hits, 6 earned runs, tossing five strike outs and walking 4. Jack O’Brian would take the win with 1 inning pitched for one walk and one strike out.
ADM totaled 10 runs off of 18 hits, suffering just 8 strikeouts and taking 11 walks against Pleasantville.
ADM now bumps up their record to 7-2 overall and a non conference mark of 5-0. Nick Lindgren kept his hitting streak alive currently sitting at nine consecutive games.
