Billy Sunday Field in Nevada is where the Greene County Rams and Nevada Cubs will square off tonight in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball. Coach Mark Sawhill’s Rams are 3-2 in the conference and 3-3 overall after winning 5-2 in Jefferson on Friday night vs. South Hamilton (Jewell).
The Cubs are off to an even better start at 4-1 in conference play and 5-1 overall. Nevada started the season 5-0 before losing to Roland-Story (Story City) on Friday night by a 5-3 final. The Rams also lost last week to R-S. That was 5-4 in eight innings on May 31 in Jefferson.
Senior Trey Tucker leads the Rams at the plate with a .450 batting average. He’s nine of 20 with a triple and four doubles. No other Greene County player with as many as 10 at-bats is hitting .300 or above.
