Each year the end of the Iowa high school state boys golf meets bring a lot of things to players, fans, and coaches alike. From happiness to sadness, champions to runner ups and now in 2017, an end to a wonderful coaching era.

Effective soon after the 2017 class 2A boys state golf meet ended, Panorama boys head golf coach Hal Rossow announced he was retiring from coaching high school boys golf at Panorama. After 38 years of teaching and bestowing knowledge from the game of golf onto high school golfers, coach Rossow will now hand the reigns over to someone else.

Whoever he or she may be who takes over, they will inherit quite the dynasty that coach Rossow developed over the course of 38 years. He or she won’t have to look very far back to see some of the success that has occurred under coach Rossow’s watch, in fact just looking at the past four seasons includes a resume many coaches dream of. Coach Rossow has helped lead the Panther boys golf team to four straight state meet appearances and walking away with two state meet crowns. Coach Rossow’s record over the past four seasons alone has equaled out to an astonishing 280 wins and just 19 losses!

This season alone could be a great example with a 70 win 7 loss year capped off with a third place team finish at state and two all state selections with George Appleseth (5th in 2A) and Will Babcock (ranked 2nd in 2A) who also earned 2nd place all tournament honors.

The two time class 2A coach of the year will have one last thing  to do to officially cap off his final season of high school golf, which would be the awards banquet to be held soon.
