If the Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio looks a little different these days, that’s because you’re seeing the new one.
The new Big Red Radio was debuted Saturday at the Perry Public Library’s KidsFest event. Raccoon Valley Radio General Manager John McGee says having as many mobile broadcasting stations for area events as possible has always been the goal for the stations in M&M Broadcasting.
“It comes down to communication. You know, we are in the information business. We are in the business of getting information out to the public, and to serving the communities we serve. Whether we’re serving them with Severe Weather Action Team, serving them with our local news, our local sports. We made the unveiling at the KidsFest this weekend in Perry with it. It’ll be at Bell Tower (Festival) coming up this weekend. It’s all about creating awareness for our great community events, and giving these small communities the recognition that they deserve.”
In addition to last Saturday’s Perry KidsFest and this weekend’s Bell Tower Festival in Jefferson, the Big Red Radios will be at several other events this summer. Locations include the Dallas, Greene, Guthrie, and Adair county fairs, and the Perry Fourth of July celebration. McGee says being at these events is good for community relations, promoting the events, safety and awareness, and for emergency purposes.
