The quest for the state crown starts tomorrow for the ADM girls soccer team with round one of the 2017 Iowa High School Girls Soccer tournament.
The Lady Tigers are continuing a rather recent trend for ADM girls soccer as they enter into their 5th state meet appearance in school history, all five of which have come within the past 7 seasons. After taking an early exit in last seasons’s state tournament, the Lady Tigers have been on a tear in 2017 accumulating a 17-2 record with strong performances on both sides of the ball. ADM defensively has been one of the stingiest teams in the state with the 8th fewest goals allowed while offensively they’ve been on fire with their 84 made goals ranking them 10th in the entire state.
ADM is led by their top two scorers starting with Izzy LaFollete who paces the Lady Tigers with 19 goals scored on the season. She is followed by senior star Sydney Bertman who earlier this season became the ADM girls career scoring leader and heads into the 2017 state tournament wielding 61 career goals.
The opponent that the 4th seeded Lady Tigers will face belongs to a team who’s made themselves at home in state tournament action in the nine time champion Lady Saints of Cedar Rapids Xavier. Xavier brought a dynasty that’s stretched long enough for the Lady Saints to be crowned champions in two separate classes from 2006-2013.
The Lady Tigers and the Lady Saints will begin their state tournament runs on field 8 and you can catch all the action tomorrow on K107.9 FM beginning with pregame coverage at 2:30 pm and kick off at 2:45 pm.
