Perry junior Alexis Garrido threw Perry’s first complete game of the season Tuesday night as the Bluejays defeated Greene County 7-3 at Allensworth Field. Garrido scattered 6 hits with 2 walks and finished the night with 3 strikeouts.
Perry took advantage of a couple of early mistakes by the Rams. The Bluejays pushed across 4 unearned runs in the first 2 innings. Brandon Kenyon delivered a RBI single to get Perry on the board in the first and followed up with a 2-run single in the second. Kyle Nevitt finished with 3 RBI’s as well, including a 2-run double to deep centerfield in the fifth inning. The bottom of the order consisting of Austin Carpenter, Aaron Lockwood and Gavin Boyer reached base safely 7 times.
Wade Adcock took the loss for the Rams. Making his first start of the year, he went 5 innings allowing 3 earned runs and finishing with 2 strikeouts. His control was his main issue as he walked 5 and hit 3 others. Bryce Hoyle was impressive in his varsity debut striking out 3 of the 6 batters he faced in working 2 innings of scoreless relief.
Trey Tucker led the Ram offense finishing 3-3 with a RBI. Dylan Fouch added a RBI as did Austin Delp.
Perry improves to 2-7 while Greene County falls to 3-5. Perry travels to Bondurant Farrar tonight in a return to RRC action. Greene County will travel to Carroll Thursday night.
