Gilbert fended off a late Perry rally defeating the Bluejays 3-2 in non conference baseball Tuesday night in Gilbert. The Tigers scored 3 early runs taking advantage of 2 Perry errors. The Jays tried to battle back in the 6th plating a pair of runs. Kyle Nevitt delivered a RBI groundout with the bases loaded while Janier Puente added a sacrifice fly. Perry had the tying run at third base in the 7th but could not push across the equalizer.
Alexis Garrido turned in his 4th quality start of the season. The junior falls to 2-2 on the season after allowing only one earned run in 6 innings worked. Austin Carpenter and Garrido provided the only 2 hits for Perry.
The Bluejays (4-10) travel to Adel tonight for a 7:30 game against the Tigers weather permitting. You can listen to the game on KDLS.
