Two field days are scheduled for later this summer in our listening area with Practical Farmers of America.
The first field day will take place on Craig Fleishman’s farm, Cardinal Farm, near Minburn. The “Ridge-Till, Weed Management and Oat Production” event will show how Fleishman uses oats on some of his corn and soybean fields, while also examining yield potential and weights of the oats. He will also explain how he combines mechanical cultivation with herbicides in his ridge-till system to control weeds. The field day is from 1 to 4pm on Wednesday, June 28th. It is free and open to the public with refreshments to be served. The field day is sponsored by Grain Millers, Iowa Farmers Union and Prudenterra.
The second field day is scheduled for August 31st at a farm near Jefferson. The topic that will be covered is the profitability of farming prairie potholes.
