For those with a giving spirit, this weekend offers two opportunities to donate blood in Perry.
Tomorrow the Perry Public Library will be hosting a blood drive event in conjunction with their summer reading program, “Build a Better World.” Organizers felt a blood drive fit the program’s theme perfectly. The event will be held from 1:30-5:30 p.m. at the library. Additionally, on Saturday at the Perry Hy-Vee, the LifeServe Blood Mobile will be on hand for a blood drive at the Health Fair. They will be holding the drive from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. To give more motivation, Hy-Vee is offering “Give a Pint – Get a Pint,” where anyone who donates a pint of blood will get a free pint of ice cream.
For both blood drives, donors must be at least 16-years-old, weigh at least 120 pounds, and have no health conditions that would prevent them giving blood. Appointments are encouraged for either event. For the library blood drive, call 515-465-3569, and for the Hy-Vee blood drive, call 515-465-5321.
