A Jefferson man will be sentenced next month in Greene County District Court.
According to court documents, 29-year-old Steven Logan Dzuris pled guilty to a serious misdemeanor for assault-domestic abuse.
The plea stems from an incident on May 27th. An officer saw the victim running with her baby in the 100 block of East Monroe Street. The victim told the officer she was in a verbal altercation with Dzuris, when it turned physical and he hit her in the face with a closed fist.
A serious misdemeanor is punishable of up to one year in prison and a maximum fine of $1,875. Dzuris was originally charged with a felony for his third or subsequent offense for domestic abuse assault. Court documents show he was previously convicted for domestic abuse assault in 2014 and 2016.
His sentence hearing is scheduled for July 14th.
