The Perry Public Library’s kids summer reading program is about to head into a very busy July.
Children’s Librarian Suzanne Kestel has a theme planned for each week in July, starting the first week with “Sand and Surf.” Participants will get to make sandcastles. At the end of the week, the third through fifth graders will be able to participate in a stepping stones event. Library Director Mary Murphy says the concept may be familiar, but emphasizes Miss Suzanne will make it exciting.
“If you’ve seen stepping stones in gardens, you know sort of what you’re going to make. But the creativity factor that Suzanne has is off the charts.” The stepping stones program will run from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, July 8th at the library, and kids must register ahead of time.
The second week’s theme is “Legoland,” and the last full week is “Build a Better World, Recycle.” The final week of July will feature the finale party on Thursday, July 27th at 6 p.m. There will be activities, snacks, and a domino run. They will also draw for the grand prize winners.
