It was the regular season finale for the ACGC softball team last night while Charger baseball limits their season to just one more game left in 2017 regular season play following their double header last night.
Both teams would unfortunately drop their respective double header match ups with softball falling 7-4 and 10-6 while Charger baseball faltered 13-1 and 6-2.
As for the Lady Charger softball team, they would accumulate 16 total hits through the two games while Des Moines Christian’s Olivia Penland tossed 8 total strikeouts with just three runs earned between the two games inside the circle. The West Central Activities Conference ERA leader kept the powerful ACGC bats at bay as the Lady Chargers end the 2017 regular season with a mark of 11-18. Head coach Tim O’Brien and his team now wait until Monday when they take on round one of postseason play in Mapleton against Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto.
On the baseball diamond, the Chargers got roughed up a bit with 19 total runs crossing the plate through two games for Des Moines Christian. Meanwhile ACGC would be held to just nine hits and three runs through both games. The Chargers now fall to 4-17 on the season and will have more chance to grab a regular season win with a road trip against non conference foe Orient-Macksburg on July 7th.
