5th ranked Ballard scored three times in the bottom of the 6th inning to defeat Perry 4-1 in RRC softball action Thursday night from Huxley.  Rachel Kinney’s RBI in the top of the 6th inning tied the game at 1 before Ballard erupted for 3 hits in the decisive inning.  The Bombers finished with just the 4 hits on the night.  Skylar Rigby started the inning with a double followed by a bunt single from Karly Newell.  Abby Carlin reached following a fielders choice to load the bases.  Rigby scored on a wild pitch and Isabelle Powell added a sac fly to give Ballard a 3-1 lead.  The Bombers tacked on one more run with a 2-out hit from Karlee Arhenholtz.

Carlin and Olejniczak were in control from the start.  The Perry senior threw 4 no-hit innings after allowing an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning.  She finished with 9 strikeouts and no walks.  The lefty Carlin was equally impressive as she struck out 9 and scattered 5 hits to go along with 1 hit batter.

Perry finishes RRC play with an 8-6 mark.  Ballard improves to 30-5.  The Jayettes will wrap up the regular season Monday night with a home game against Pella.
