The Lions International organization recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, and they took the opportunity to announce donations to several local groups.
At a special celebration last week at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School, the Lions Club gave checks to seven different organizations totalling $12,000. Recipients included the Adel Girl Scouts, the ADM Scholarship Foundation, Boy Scout Troop 152, the Good Samaritan Food Pantry, the Iowa Leader Dog Program, the Nile Kinnick Museum Foundation, and Oakdale Pride.
In addition to those donations, the Lions Club also made a donation to the American Heart Association in Jamie Pollard’s name. Pollard, the Athletic Director for Iowa State University, was also the guest speaker at the event.
