It’s a light week for Greene County baseball with only two games scheduled and both are non-conference contests at home. Coach Mark Sawhill’s Rams host Ogden (14-13) on Wednesday night, then remain at home on Thursday evening with South Central Calhoun (Lake City) (11-12). The Thursday night game is also Senior Night and it will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed “live” on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
Coach Sawhill talks about his pitching rotation for the two games. “We’ll start Ben Wilkins on Wednesday. Thursday is Senior Night, so we’ll start the senior Dylan Fouch. He’s had a real good year for us and it’s his turn. We’ll look at it like any other week. We’ve got to go out and play baseball and do the best we can.”
The Rams are 11-11 and are riding a four game winning streak, all against teams with winning records. Coach Sawhill wasn’t sure if the weather suspended game with Gilbert from June 30 will be finished, so Greene County could have three or four regular season games left. The Rams trail the Tigers 4-0 after 3-1/2 innings. The regular season finale is set for Tuesday, July 11 in Alleman vs. North Polk, which is also the last Heart of Iowa Activities Conference contest.
