Greene County Supervisors 7_3The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

During open forum, Supervisor Vice-Chair Dawn Rudolph mentioned that a survey is being done to gauge interest in a possible daycare facility in the City of Scranton. The deadline for surveys to be completed is July 30th.

Sheriff Jack Williams told the Board that Scranton’s 28E agreement for law enforcement coverage with the Sheriff’s office will end on July 30th. He is proposing a new agreement with slight changes so that it is almost the same as the rest of the cities that the sheriff’s office covers in the county.

The Board then approved the June 30th cash count as presented. Additionally, the Board set July 17th at 9am as the public hearing date to vacate the rest of Kendrick Road from 230th Street north and a road closure for K Avenue from 240th to 245th streets for a drainage pipe to be installed near Deal’s Orchard. They also had an acknowledgement for the 2018 fiscal year Iowa Communities Assurance Pool and Iowa Municipal Workers Compensation Association, with an increase of liability insurance for the county up to $15 million was also approved.

The Board then approved a five-year contract for tasers with Axxon, a bulletproof vest federal grant purchase, hiring Kasey Lane as a part-time dispatcher and using the federal mileage rate for attorneys serving civil papers as presented by the sheriff’s office.

Finally, County Engineer Wade Weiss said he closed on the property at 1609 Kendrick Street in Scranton last week to eventually replace the existing new secondary roads shop.
