A three hit shut out by Ballard’s Hannah Elliot quieted the ADM bats offensively in the regular season finale as Ballard would take the win over Lady Tiger softball last night 4-0.
The contest held a scoreless deadlock until a fifth inning solo home run by Ballard’s Maggie Larson earned the games’ first run of the evening. The very next inning would see the Lady Bombers increase their lead thanks to four hits pushing across 3 runs as Ballard would head into the final frame up 4-0.
From an ADM team averaging 8 hits per contest, only three Lady Tigers would have the honors of earning a hit last night coming from Lindsey Lange, Sierra Wyant, and Lexi Wyant.
The match up inside the circle would prove out to be very competitive with ADM’s Abbie Hlas unfortunately faltering for the loss after tossing 7 strong innings while giving up two earned runs off of five hits with two walks issued and 2 strikeouts dished out. Ballard’s Hannah Elliot secured the win after 7 strong innings led to two strikeouts, two walks, and no earned runs.
With Ballard taking the season series sweep, ADM now ends the 2017 regular season campaign with a record of 19-16 while dropping their conference record to 6-8. The next time ADM hits the softball diamond will occur this Saturday in round two of the region 7 bracket when ADM takes on the July 6th round one winner of Grinell and Cedar Rapids Xavier.
