At long long last, the wait is finally over as the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association released their 2017 girls All-State teams for each class early yesterday.
With the phenomenal run that the ADM girls soccer team had in 2017 it should come as no surprise to see a few Lady Tiger names on class 2A’s All-State list. In total ADM peppered the list with four total individuals earning All-State honors as three Lady Tigers earned first team selections while ADM had one honorable mention.
The honorable mention honor for ADM was bestowed upon freshmen phenom goal keeper in Delaney Bertman. The multi-sport star was a vacuum with only four goals allowed under her watch while thwarting 95% of all would be goals for saves.
Moving up into the first team selections for ADM, defensively the Lady Tigers had their defensive superstar Chelsea Bright take a first team spot. Bright was more than just a bright spot for ADM on the season, but in fact a large part of why opposing offenses had a hard time making it past the 20 yard line on ADM’s side of the field. The future Concordia soccer star showed great versatility with some offensive production resulting in 2 goals with one assist on the year.
For the second straight year in a row, ADM’s ultimate multi-star athlete Sydney Bertman found her way onto the first team stage in the forward position. Bertman was one of the main sparks for this Lady Tiger squad leading the team in assists with 12 to go along with her 17 goals and 46 points in her senior campaign. Bertman ends her four year run with ADM soccer as the program’s career scoring leader.
ADM rounds out the All-State list with another first team selection in senior Allie Cook. The future Truman state star was pivotal for the Lady Tigers playing from penalty box to penalty box each and every contest. She ended her senior season 15 goals, 11 assists, and 41 total points.
Again the All-State selections for ADM include Delaney Bertman as honorable mention, Chelsea Bright as first team defender, Sydney Bertman as first team All-State forward, and Allie Cook as first team All-State midfielder.
