With one more game left in the 2017 regular season, head coach Willi Patti and his ACGC Charger baseball team continues to prepare and improve before they hit postseason on July 8th.
With postseason play bringing the win or go home scenario the Chargers will need to bring their A game and then some at the plate. While better hitting is something the Chargers would like to see more pronounced, coach Patti’s main focus lies somewhere else telling Raccoon Valley Radio the biggest improvement needs to start on the mound.
“It always comes down to pitching. It doesn’t matter how good an offense is; we can hit the ball all over the field and put up as many runs as we want but if we don’t have the pitching to stop the other offense then we’re not going to be able to get many W’s. It’s got to come down to the pitching aspect of stepping up for us and our defense obviously helping out pitching out but we can get good pitching consistently put ourselves in a spot to compete and get a W,” stated coach Patti.
ACGC’s final regular season contest sends them to Orient-Macksburg territory on July 7th while postseason action for the Chargers begins on July 8th in Manning. There ACGC will take on their first baseball postseason under the Charger name against 13-8 Underwood beginning with first pitch at 5:00 pm.
