Police Chief Mark ClouseThe City of Jefferson has had a busy couple of weeks recently.

The WHO tractor ride took place last week. Both Police Chief Mark Clouse and Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams helped direct traffic at the intersection of highways 30 and 4 to lead the tractors each day out of the Wild Rose Jefferson parking lot.

Clouse says everything went smoothly. Each day of the ride, there were about six groups of tractors that started their trip every 30-minutes. The average wait time for motorists was about ten minutes. He was impressed with how the event went with over 475 tractors involved. Clouse adds that he received several positive remarks from the tractor riders about how well he and Williams help keep them safe.

Clouse also reported that nothing was out of the ordinary during the 4th of July holiday. He said his department took about eight calls of complaints about fireworks being shot off in the week leading up to the 4th. No citations were issued and officers were able to make contact with some of the individual’s lighting fireworks and they stopped after being warned.
