An early ADM lead helped the Tiger baseball team in evening up the season series against Carlisle with an 8-5 win last night in Adel.
ADM ended the night with those 8 runs off of 9 hits with three errors and five runners left on base. Carlisle ended the night with those five runs off six hits with two errors.
Just as they have most of the season, the Tigers jumped out to an early 3-0 first inning lead and never looked back from there. ADM held a 4-1 lead heading into the sixth inning where Carlisle would cut the ADM lead to one with two runs in the top of the sixth. ADM would answer back in a big way putting up a 4 run home half of the 6th courtesy of a Dalton Hews RBI single, an RBI double by Nick Lindgren, and a two run RBI double by Kade Overton.
Carlisle would give ADM a scare with two runs in the top half of the 7th but fortunately for the Tigers, Nick Dufoe would shut the door on the Wildcat rally giving ADM their 18th win on the season.
Dufoe may have shut the door but it was Kade Overton to start things off on the mound and got credit for the win stifling the powerful Carlisle line up. ADM’s senior hurler tossed just over five very strong innings of work, giving up five hits for two earned runs, walking five, while striking out 7 Wildcat batters and stranding 6 Carlisle runners on base.
Being the great two way player that he is, Overton also led the Tigers at the plate going 2-4 while striking for three RBI’s in the process. Junior Nick Lindgren had a solid night as well posting up 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate while driving in one run himself. The remaining two RBI’s came from Dalton Hews and Logan Crannell.
The Tigers now bolster their record up to 18-11 and ending their conference portion of the regular season two games over .500 in conference play with an 8-6 mark. ADM baseball will get the week started next week Monday when they head to Creston for a non conference battle beginning at 7:30 pm.
