Mariah DurlamAs we get closer to the Greene County Fair Queen coronation ceremony, we will take a look at another candidate looking to become the next county fair queen.

Mariah Durlam is the daughter of Justin and Mindy Durlam. She is a member of the Raccoon River Rockets 4-H Club and has been in 4-H since 2009. She’s been involved in basketball, cheerleading, softball, FFA, fishing and saddle clubs while in high school. Mindy is also showing a rabbit and her horse “Cookie” at this year’s county fair. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she likes to be involved in different areas and grow as a leader, which are some of the reasons why she wants to be fair queen.

“I like to be busy and get to be a part of absolutely every single thing that I can. And I think that will be a neat experience for me to be able to try for something new and have that experience.”

Durlam is a recent Greene County High School graduate and plans on attending Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny this fall to either go into agribusiness or become a paramedic specialist.

Durlam is one of four candidates for fair queen including Hannah Stein, Emily Heupel and Gwen Black.
