The City of Perry is holding two events to help citizens rid their homes of unwanted and potentially dangerous items.

The City will be collecting household hazardous waste and tires this Saturday. The hazardous waste collection will be held from 9 a.m. until noon at the police and fire station parking lot located at 908 Willis Avenue. They will accept many items, including: antifreeze, rechargeable batteries, fertilizers, used oil filters and motor oil, oil-based paint, pesticides, poison, pool chemicals, weed killers, and more. Items they won’t accept include: ammunition, asbestos, electronics, explosives, fire extinguishers, latex paint, medications, propane tanks, and radioactive materials.

Also on Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon, the City is holding a tire drop off at the Perry Recycle Center located at 14325 Ivy Place. As many as five car tires can be disposed of for free, but any more than five will cost $1 each. Additionally, it will cost $5 each to dispose of large truck and tractor tires. All tires must be removed from the rims. The City also reminds people the tire drop off is for residential use only, and tires from businesses will not be accepted.
