Today we introduce the final contestant for this year’s Greene County Fair Queen contest.
Gwen Black is the daughter of Chad and Shannon Black. She is going to be a senior at Greene County High School this fall. She is a member of the Washington Winners 4-H Club and is the president of Greene County FFA. She is also involved in Interact Club, cheerleading, dance, choir and student council. Gwen is showing horses, food and nutrition and photography exhibits at this year’s county fair. She talks about why she is competing for the fair queen crown.
“I’m running for fair queen this year just because I think it would be another great experience to have just kind of under the belt, something that I can say, ‘Hey I did this.’ I like to think that I’m a pretty good representative of the county as well. I’m involved in a lot. I know a lot of people and I know the county pretty well. And I just think it would be an awesome opportunity.”
Gwen is one of four candidates for county fair queen including Mariah Durlam, Emily Heupel and Hannah Stein. To learn about all the queen candidates, find stories about each at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
The queen coronation ceremony will take place tomorrow night at 6:30pm in Clover Hall. Raccoon Valley Radio will announce this year’s county fair queen on our Facebook page later that evening.
