sheriff-signThe Guthrie County Sheriff’s office is running with two fewer deputies these days.

Sheriff Marty Arganbright says they recently had one deputy resign and take employment with the Dallas County Sheriff’s office, and another deputy is recovering from a fireworks incident where a spark hit him in one of his eyes. Being down two deputies makes it a little tougher for Arganbright to cover shifts.

“That will be noticeable, that’s for sure. And we’ll just try to spread our schedule out and make it work, that’s all we can do. Hopefully I can get another deputy hired by September.”

Meanwhile, Arganbright is still taking applications to fill the resigned deputy position, which he says has it’s own challenges.

“It is harder to find applicants that are interested and willing to become police officers as far as it has been in the past.”

Anyone wishing to inquire about the open deputy position can contact the sheriff’s office at 747-2214.
