More details have come to light in the sexual abuse case in Perry for 22-year-old Jesse Donavon Taggart of West Des Moines.
Last Saturday, Taggart was arrested on three charges stemming from a complaint made on May 31 of an alleged sexual assault that involved a minor in Perry. After an investigation, the Perry Police Department found probable cause to charge Taggart with assaulting a female victim under the age of 12. He allegedly committed a sex act upon the victim, along with exposing himself to her and showing her obscene material.
Taggart was informed of his impending arrest, and police indicated he elected to turn himself in. The charges against him include: second degree sexual abuse, a class B felony; indecent exposure, an aggravated misdemeanor; and dissemination of obscene material to a minor, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was transferred to the Dallas County Jail where he is currently being held on $25,000 bond.
He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on July 19 at 11 a.m. He has requested a bond review hearing, which will be held either at the preliminary hearing or at the arraignment.
