Greene County Supervisors 7_17The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

During open forum, Sheriff Jack Williams informed the Board he will be attending the next Scranton City Council meeting to answer questions and provide information about changes to the new proposed 28E agreement for law enforcement coverage. He also mentioned that he will have a $10,000 medical expense from an inmate coming soon. He said while an individual is in the sheriff’s office custody, his department is responsible for all medical expenses, because the inmate’s insurance will not cover them.

The Board then held a public hearing to vacate a portion of Kendrick Road from 230th Street north. The road is only used by the adjoining landowners, and the road will go back to the landowners if approved. The Board then approved the requested vacation following the hearing.

He then said that there are several meetings happening with developers for housing projects. The Vision 20/20 committee will present early recommendations for projects by the end of this month.

The Supervisors approved a pre-construction agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation to pave several gravel intersections along Iowa Highway 144 from 240th Street to the Greene and Dallas County line.
