Each new year brings new adventures for Panorama high school, and as the dog days of summer continue to roll along, so too does the adventure of a new weight room facility.

Already under way, the new weight room facility will bring all types of new equipment to better aid in athletics for Panorama high school student-athletes. Even with the great physical aid that the new facility will bring, as Panorama activities director Erin Ambrose told Raccoon Valley Radio, the impact goes beyond just the equipment for the kids.

“I think there’s some truth to (the saying) if you build it they will come and not necessarily in terms of enrollment and this and that but when you start to give these kids opportunities and make them feel like they’re part of the process I think that’s huge. With our weight room it really feeds to their confidence, it really makes them feel like they’re a part of something special. Anytime that can be student led and not forced down their throat by a teacher, coach, administrator, then I really think you’re on to something there,” explained Ambrose.

Although the weight room upgrade is a big deal, it’s a smaller piece to the overall picture of the impact Panorama high school is continuing to upgrade as Ambrose further went on to explain.

“We’re trying to do that (upgrade) to all of our facilities around here. That’s where we get to showcase ourselves to the public and what Panorama (high school) is all about. For me that’s not just the facilities, that’s the things we put on our walls, the record board, all that kind of stuff but also the type of people we bring into the gym; having good student sections and people who want to show up and support our student athletes. I thin that’s bigger than anything that we’re doing on a physical level with our facilities,” stated Ambrose.
