Dallas Co Supervisors

The Dallas County Supervisors met Tuesday morning in regular session.

During open forum, Robert Greenway, an organizer for the countywide local option sales tax petition, reported the number of signatures needed had been reached, and Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson would formally present it at next week’s meeting. Peterson thanked County Auditor Julia Helm for the help the auditor’s office had provided throughout the process.

The Board then listened to the latest update from Jerry Purdy from Design Alliance regarding the new law enforcement center. Purdy reported they had received the soil and geothermal well reports. The Supervisors then approved a purchase request from the sheriff’s office. One of their vehicles was recently totalled in a wreck, and they will pay for the new vehicle as a normal line item before it’s repaid by insurance.

The meeting then moved on to further discussion regarding cleaning service recommendations. Operations Director Rob Tietz had done further research, and confirmed the assumption he had that the respondents to the request for proposals would honor their bid prices for just cleaning five of the nine county buildings. The other four would be handled by Genesis Development, which is a service that employs people with disabilities. The Supervisors accepted Tietz’s recommendation of using both Genesis and the low bidder Reliable Maintenance, and advised him to move forward with the contracts.

The meeting concluded with a workshop with County Engineer Al Miller on the secondary roads department.
