DSCN6672The Jefferson Streets/Sewer/Sanitation/Water committee met Tuesday.

Bolton and Menk presented the committee with a proposal to allow Landus Cooperative to dump ammonia wastewater into the City’s wastewater system. After reviewing the proposal, the committee asked Bolton and Menk to add that the Cooperative is only allowed to dump up to 200 gallons per day and install a meter for monitoring purposes.

City Administrator Mike Palmer then informed the committee that they are going to start the procedure to increase sewer and water rates by their annual three-percent increase. He also told the committee that a $3,000 hotel/motel grant was approved for the Lincoln Highway Association to purchase a Lincoln Highway sign to be placed on the east side of the City on Lincoln Way.

The committee then discussed the Department of Transportation’s Highway 4 resurfacing project for next year. The City’s portion of the project is $70,000 to improve the curb and gutters along the project area from Lincoln Way to Highway 30. Payment for the City’s portion will be from Local Option Sales and Services Tax revenues. Bid letting for the project is next March.
