With the state softball tournament now in the rear view mirror and all Raccoon River Conference softball teams meeting the conclusion their seasons, the all conference selections can officially be released.
Throughout the grueling RRC schedule that now included the 4A champion in Winterset, ADM came out exactly as they did last year with 5 all conference selections. The list of five includes freshmen Abbie Hlas, junior Ashley Tennant, along with seniors Lexi Wyant, Lindsey Lange, and Kila Carbine.
The honorable mention honors were bestowed upon seniors Kila Carbine and Lindsey Lange. Both had very solid senior seasons for ADM and for Lange, it came after she finished swinging a golf club at the state golf meet. She transitioned quite well back to softball where she was a spark in the leadoff spot ending the year with a .282 batting average. One of Lange’s biggest strengths was patience at the plate leading the team with 18 walks. Lange ends her tenure with ADM with a .278 career batting average.
Fellow senior Kila Carbine also earned an honorable mention doing so for the second time in two seasons. The senior slugger led the team in RBI’s with 30 and led the team in home runs with 5. Before Carbine swaps a Tiger uniform for a Des Moines Area Community College uniform, she will end her senior season with a .333 batting average and a career batting average of .288.
There was one second team selection for the Lady Tigers which belonged to Lexi Wyant who earned the honor by hitting .336 at the plate and driving in 19 RBI’s. Wyant has been another three year starter for the Lady Tigers and as she ends her time with ADM softball, she leaves behind a career batting average of .306.
Finally there were two Lady Tiger softball stars who earned first team all conference selections in freshmen Abbie Hlas as a pitcher and junior Ashley Tennant as a third basemen. Tennant had a phenomenal year leading the team in on base percentage, slugging percentage, hits, and batting average. Tennant ended the year hitting .426 which was tied for 8th in the entire conference. The junior flashed greatness in the field with 96 assists on the year putting her third in the entire conference.
Abbie Hlas was one of just three freshmen on the all conference first team. Hlas entered the team in the pitching role which she was quite dominant at this year. Hlas’s 148 strikeouts helped her earn the 4th best mark in the conference as well as aiding in a 2.10 ERA. Opposing teams hit just .212 against the powerful freshmen all season. Hlas also put on a great offensive season hitting .358 while striking for 13 runs, and a team best 10 doubles.
