baseballThe 2017 season officially ended earlier this week for Raccoon River Conference baseball as Bondurant-Farrar bowed out of the state tournament after being defeated by the tournaments top seed in Davenport (Assumption).

The Blue Jays season end brings the release of the all conference selections and for the second straight season, Carlisle has peppered the all conference list with 6 total selections. The aforementioned Bondurant-Farrar Blue Jays came in second on the list with 5 total selections followed by both Perry and Ballard with 4, Boone with 3, and rounded out with two all conference selections for both ADM and Winterset.

For the Tigers, their two selections included senior Jack O’Brien and junior Dalton Hews, both of which graduated from honorable mentions in 2016. Before Jack O’Brien officially trades his Tiger uniform for Northwest Missouri State colors, he will leave behind a senior season hitting .301 with 25 runs driven in, two of which came in the postseason. O’Brien was an all around player showcasing his speed on the base paths with a team best 9 stolen bases. O’Brien ends his solid 3 year tenure with ADM with a career batting average at .300 with 44 total runs driven in.

ADM’s second all first team selection went to tried and true junior Dalton Hews. Hews posted a .361 batting average and could have been dubbed Mr. Consistency due to the fact that he led the team with the most games with at least one hit. Out of the 31 games played Hews managed a hit in all but five contests this season.

ADM did have two honorable mentions in senior Kade Overton and junior Nick Lindgren. Lindgren was a first team selection last year but had a much better season offensively this year as he led the team with 26 RBI’s and helped to solve the power problem with 14 extra base hits and 5 home runs. He was also quite the patient batter with 21 plate appearances having seen 6 pitches or more.

Kade Overton had a phenomenal season as well as the first team all district selectee struck for a .392 batting average while leading the Tigers in total hits with 41. Overton was also prominent on the mound with a team high 51 strikeouts thrown. Overton ends his tenure at ADM with a .326 career average with 30 career RBI’s.
