Next Tuesday is the annual National Police Night Out Day, and the Perry Hy-Vee is inviting the community to show their support of the local police department.

Hy-Vee will be providing a free lunch for officers and staff at the Perry Police Department, followed by an evening of getting to know them at the store. Children and families are invited to attend the celebration from 5-7 p.m. Kids can sit in a patrol car and get their picture taken. Officers also want to show kids that they are their friends and they should not be afraid of them.

National Police Night Out Day is observed annually on the first Tuesday in August, and is a way to bring local law enforcement and the public together as a community.
