HAN PIC 16In a couple of weeks, the downtown streets in Jefferson will be filled with hundreds of vehicles for the “Hot August Night” event.

The annual event will be held on Thursday, August 10th from 5 to 8pm. Committee member Chuck Wenthold says they are accepting registrations. Any type of vehicle can register and Wenthold adds that they will accept any make or model from the early 1900’s to new. Wenthold talks about the different clubs that usual attend the event.

“Some of them are just general car clubs, like the RPM Club from Carroll. Some are a specific make, like we like some that come from the Mustang Club out of Des Moines, the Chevy Club out of Des Moines and the Pontiac Club. So it’s pretty much a lot of clubs that come.”

As an added incentive, Wenthold says they are once again going to give a $200 prize to the club that brings the most members. Another added feature this year is bringing back the dyno machine.

“In this case, a motorcycle will be parked on a rolling road or a rolling drum. And as it goes through it’s gears, it’ll spin the drum and actually measure the horsepower.”

There will also be people’s choice awards given for car, truck, motorcycle and tractor, along with the spirit award.

Registrations can be found at jeffersoniacarshows.info or by calling the Greene County Chamber at 386-2155.
