The Adair County Fair wrapped up on Sunday and despite the hot temperatures, organizers are calling it a success.

There were 34 4-H static exhibits and two posters that qualified for next month’s Iowa State Fair. Another 12 communication exhibits also qualified for the state fair. Extension 4-H Coordinator Donna Wallace describes what she thought was the most impressive part of the fair.

“The number of volunteers that we have because there are so many of the activities at the county fair that simply would not happen if we didn’t have our volunteers. I have always felt blessed with the number of volunteers and the quality of volunteers that we have.”

Fair Board Vice-President Gina Meisenheimer echoes Wallace’s remarks.

“All of the fair board members put in a lot of hours. We work out there a lot of hours getting things ready for the fair and we have a lot of good sponsors. The Board of Supervisors, they back us. We have a lot of backing and a lot of volunteers that put in a lot of hours out there. And we appreciate everybody that does that.”
