The Raccoon River Valley area saw a slight increase in unemployment in June.
According to the Iowa Workforce Development, Dallas County went up 0.3-percent from May to June at 2.3-percent. Greene County saw a 0.2-percent increase in June to 3.2-percent. Guthrie County’s percentage of those without a job also went up 0.2-percent to 3.4-percent. The county with the highest unemployment rate in June was Lee County at 5.9-percent.
All three of our counties are doing better than last year at this time. Dallas County was at 3-percent, Greene County was at 3.8-percent and Guthrie County was at 3.5-percent in June of 2016.
The statewide unemployment rate was 3.2-percent in June, and the national unemployment rate was 4.4-percent.
