A wreck involving bicyclists and a minivan Wednesday evening sent three to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that at around 7:44 p.m., bicycles operated by 49-year-old Brian Terhark of Clive, 45-year-old Chad Roethler of Urbandale, and 50-year-old Todd Bidel of West Des Moines were travelling southbound on County Road R-22 east of Dallas Center. A minivan driven by 36-year-old Renae Deaver of Dallas Center was also travelling south, and didn’t notice the three bicyclists. The minivan struck the bicyclists, who all came to rest in the west ditch near the road.

Dallas County Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported all three to area hospitals. Sources say Terhark and Bidel sustained serious injuries. All three bicyclists were wearing helmets when struck. Deaver was not injured. The accident is currently under investigation. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring more information as it’s made official.
