For fall sports teams in the state of Iowa, Monday just can’t seem to get here fast enough. Monday after all is the initiation to a new season for all sports teams including Panorama high school football.

The Panthers are primed and ready to build off of last year’s 7-2 season and they’ve got a great returning group of players to do so with starting with the offense. For a team that did most of their damage on the ground last year, Panorama returns at least 5 players with over 100 yards rushing. What’s more is that those five players from Brody Rickheim to Luke South, and from Gunnar Grunsted to Michael Allen, return from attributing over 1,000 rushing yards and 21 of Panorama’s 23 rushing touchdowns last year. The main leader of the rushing group was Brody Richeim who led Panorama last year with 572 yards and 9 touchdowns.

Another big piece to the returning puzzle from last year will be sophomore quarterback Luke South. South will also look to build upon his season last year as just a freshmen where he rushed for 237 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns to go along with over 1,000 passing yards and 13 aerial touchdowns.

The only initial chink in the Panthers offensive armor comes in the receiving core as they loose their top two receivers from last year in Levi Leiferman and Garrett Simmons.

The Panthers will start off regular season play against a Des Moines Christian team who ironically Panorama put up three passing touchdowns against last year. Panorama’s season opener against Des Moines Christian will also be their home opener and will take place on Friday August 25th.
