As we enter peak produce season, Guthrie County Conservation reminds people different fruits and vegetables should be stored different ways.
So the question for your produce is: should you refrigerate it or keep it at room temperature? Things you should refrigerate immediately include apples, berries, asparagus, green beans, broccoli, carrots, leafy greens, and anything that is cut up. Produce to keep at room temperature include melons, tomatoes, squashes, onions, potatoes, and sweet potatoes. Additionally, there is some produce that should ripen at room temperature, and then be refrigerated, including nectarines, peaches, pears, and plums.
