The teen summer reading program at the Stuart Public Library enjoyed another year of success.
Coordinator Holly Partlow says despite the low number of participants, ten, they still had a great program. She talks about the details of the teen program.
“Teens could come in and read for an hour or read at home for an hour if they like, and they could win prizes to the scratch off tickets like we had for the younger kids as well. And we gave out grand prizes for them too, such as camping chairs, a pack of four I-Cubs tickets and a Slip N’ Slide.”
Partlow also led the kids summer reading program and she talks about why she continues to be involved in both summer programs.
“I remember being a kid myself and participating in the summer reading program here and how much I really enjoyed it. And I’ve been lucky enough to be able to co-lead and then lead this past year. It’s been a wonderful learning experience and a great way to get to know more of my community members as well.”
She appreciates all of the donations, as well as the number volunteers that helped with this year’s summer reading programs.
