New Perry girls basketball coach Chris Morrow has been around the sport a long time despite the youthful age of 31. Morrow brings a wealth of basketball experience into his first varsity head coaching job.
“I started back when I was 20 years old. After Kirkwood, I was able to land an assistant position with Cedar Rapids Prairie and we ended up going to state that first year. I returned home to Martensdale as a coach and then I started to get into the AAU circuit.”
Morrow has been responsible for running the successful AAU Academy Pure Prep.
“It has been a great experience. The Academy has produced several girls who have went on to earn scholarships and play college basketball. This year, we have a point guard is getting multiple offers from Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Miami, Bradley and other division one programs. I’m big into the developmental side of the game and getting the girls excited to play basketball and wanting to go on and play at the next level.”
Perry will return a strong nucleus of guard players with starters Molly Lutmer, Johanna Diw and Grace Stewart all returning to the backcourt.
