A special event on the first day of Panorama Days last week resulted in over $13,000 raised for charity.

St. Baldrick’s is a national charitable organization that raises money for cancer research by shaving people’s heads. Last Friday, 13 individuals braved the shave in Panora in support of Emma Reinhart, a young lady battling cancer. The event was organized by Emma’s parents, Steph and Troy Reinhart, and they were given a lot of aid from their friend Kellie Flanery. All three of them wound up with shaved heads to support Emma and the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

The Panorama High School wrestling team and head coach also shaved their heads at the event. When the Reinharts were originally planning the event, they set a modest goal of $5,000. When Flanery joined the crusade, she set the bar even higher with a $10,000 goal. The Reinharts were excited to announce at the event they shattered their goal, raising $13,737. Flanery herself raised over $6,000, earning her a medal for the most funds raised.
