First year Greene County High School Cross-Country Coach Jeff Lamoureux is looking forward to this Thursday the 24th. That’s when his teams make their season debut. The Rams will run on the Iowa State University course in Ames at the Gilbert Coed Invitational.
The coach talked to Raccoon Valley Radio about both the individual and team aspects of the sport. “Early on, at the first practice, I asked the kids if cross-country was a team or individual sport. It’s absolutely a team sport because you’re working together as a team and they keep a team score, but there’s also a lot of personal satisfaction. You’re competing against yourself a lot. You’re trying to get a PR (Personal Record), then trying to do a little better the next race than you did the prior race.”
Coach Lamoureux is anxious to see how his runners do vs. a very tough field in Ames.
