Just three more days until the season opens up for Iowa High School football teams and a chance to start the new season with a win.

For the Panorama football team, they will be aiming for their ninth opening game win in the past 11 seasons and their 5th in the past 6 seasons. There has been a lot of progress made from the Panther football team with a lot of that progress showcased at the preseason scrimmage last Friday.

Raccoon Valley Radio met up with Panorama head football coach Lyle Alumbaugh as he discussed the things he was most pleased with coming out of the scrimmage.

“For the most part I think we were pretty solid in the running game, obviously there’s some things to work on there. By and large our younger kids impressed us the most as far as they way they could fit in down the road and the energy that they brought. I thought both quarterbacks looked well. We had a number of people in the backfield but everything was looking good there. Depth in certain positions wasn’t what we hoped for but at the same time the kids who were out there the most seemed to be doing pretty well. I’d say the younger kids were probably the brightest part as far as coming along as well or quicker than they thought they might,” explained Alumbaugh.

The Panthers will open up their season at home this year and will be welcoming in non district foe Des Moines Christian beginning with kick off at 7:00 pm this Friday.
