The ACGC cross country teams are merely one day away from kicking off the 2017 competitive season.
2017 will mark the third straight year that the Charger cross country programs will add a little extra importance to the season opener as it will also be their home opener. Both ACGC squads will be entertaining 12 team fields as the season begins tomorrow at 5:00 pm.
Head coach Collin Shawgo enters his fourth year at the head coaching helm and mentioned to Raccoon Valley Radio how the extra emphasis put on tomorrows meets brings about added benefits for the athletes.
“I tell them that we are supposed to protect our home meets, we’re supposed to protect our home grounds and so we always put emphasis on really getting focus and really getting after this first meet. That’s why we like it being our first meet. It makes them (ACGC athletes) set a really high goal for themselves, it makes them have high expectations so that when they come out and race, they’re ready to go,” smiled coach Shawgo.
The twelve team field facing both Charger girls and boys squads will include three other conference schools in Woodward-Granger, Panorama, and Des Moines Christian. The complete list of teams are below:
