A Grand Junction man was recently arrested on drug charges in Jefferson.
According to court documents, 40-year-old Michael Eugene Hamilton was arrested on August 18th and faces two Class D Felonies for his third or subsequent offense for possession of marijuana and third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine.
The charges stem from a traffic stop in the 200 block of West Madison Street on June 10th. A Jefferson Police Officer noticed Hamilton in the passenger seat and knew he had an arrest warrant from Carroll County for failure to pay child support. As Hamilton was being arrested, the officer noticed an eyeglass case with a glass smoking device containing a white residue and a small digital scale in his pocket. The officer then searched the vehicle and found a wooden box with a metal smoking device containing a burnt substance and a small amount of what appeared to be marijuana. Hamilton admitted to owning all devices and the marijuana. Test results from the Criminalistics Laboratory in Ankeny confirmed the drug findings.
An arrest warrant was then issued on August 8th and Hamilton turned himself in on August 18th. He was booked and released from the Greene County jail.
