Last week’s Iowa State Fair celebrated all that the Hawkeye State has to offer. This included its fine citizens. A Guthrie Center woman was especially recognized on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage as one of
the distinguished Iowans for a Day.
Marian McQuaid was honored Monday, August 14th and is one of ten recipients of the award.
She was honored for her involvement with the Guthrie Center community and Guthrie County. She organized Friends of the Guthrie Center Library, assisted in after school programs and wrote weekly library newspaper articles. She is also a member of Homestead Helpers and is the founder of the Guthrie County Arts Council. McQuaid has served on various committees for community events, including the Fall Arts Festival.
All of this year’s recipients received four Iowa State Fair admission and grandstand tickets, VIP parking, hotel accommodations, $200 cash, and exclusive usage of the Iowan of the Day golf cart on the day of recognition.
